Here it is! (late)

Sorry there was no post for Christmas or about snow boarding and skiing sooner.Anyways here it is!
Well first of all it was lots of fun. When we first got there there was no one there. Except for the staff. So we got our ski ticket then we went literally down to the rental shop my brother already has a snow board and boots so he just needed a helmet. Me on the other hand had nothing so we got the full thing for me (and my cousin who was skiing with me and my other cousin who was snow boarding.) I was fitting my helmet on then all of a sudden this school showed up with kids around 7 and 8 years old. Well, when we got to the hill there was the T bar and a towrope that only went about a quarter up the slope. So of course we went on the tow rope first considering that we had never been on a ski hill before. When I got to the top of the tow rope I thought "Great, it's time for me to make a fool of myself!" I started to gain speed. I didn't really think of weaving at the moment. When I got to the bottom I didn't know how to stop so I yelled to my mom,"I can't stop!" Then I kinda sat down on my skis and put my hands on the ground and finally I stopped. Well after that I decided to weave and then I went up the t bar with out falling! When I got to the t bar i got in position and went up the hill. Over all it was really fun. Guess what!! We get to go on Thursday! I got a ski helmet for christmas and so did my brother. Im super excited! Well hope you all had a good Christmas!!

Skiing and Snowboarding

Tomorrow we are going to go skiing and snowboarding at the Canyon ski hill. I'm quite excited. We are going with our cousins whose mom is the maker of Just One Life a very interesting blog with lovely photography. I decided I am going to ski. My brother is going to snowboard. I would snowboard but there is two reasons I'm not going to. One- Last time I snowboarded I ran into a trampoline and my leg hurt for  couple of days. Two- One of my cousins is snowboarding and my other cousin is skiing. So I'd rather hang out with someone who is skiing rather then snowboarding plus, I'm not the best at snowboarding. I will publish a post about how it went on probably Wednesday or Tuesday. We will see.

Voodoo donuts

Oregon is home to many things such as the ocean, beautiful views and warm weather, but one thing that is often over looked is the food. Highly buttered crab from the ocean, cheese from the Tillamook cheese factory, cotton candy from the Tillamook fair and of course doughy doughnuts from Voodoo Donuts in Portland.
Voodoo Donuts is an independent store dedicated to creating works of art through dough. With the motto, "The magic’s in the hole" it should be good!         I stood in line for nearly 2 hours in the warm August sun for a taste of the doughnuts that have been featured on the Amazing Race, Man vs. Food and Attack of the Show.                               Sitting down at the outdoor wooden table and biting into the doughy goodness definitely paid off and was well worth the wait. It was probably not the healthiest food to have for breakfast but I am sure the walk from the store through the crowded city back to the truck burned off most of the fat from the chocolate almond covered donuts and 2% percent milk.
Voodoo Donuts was a huge and tasty part of my vacation.

Skim Boarding in Oregon

Water is fun with just swim trunks but its more fun with…
Skim boarding!!!
Living in Alberta I don't have any source of salt water near by so that I can surf or do any other ocean related sports. So when I went to Oregon the cheapest type of board I was told was a skim board. The history of skim boarding is rather interesting. The first skim boards were just pieces of wood that life guards
used to skim up and down the beach. [I think the sun eventually got to them] Now skim boarding is more technically advanced than surfing, however skim boarding is much less popular than the sport of the waves.
However simple, skim boarding is hard the first few times. I think I still have sand in my ears.
Marbles, completely oblivious to all this, was proceeding to continue the hole to China.

Nutcracker Christmas

Do you decorate with nutcrackers at Christmas?

We found this one for my dad who is a fire fighter!
Do you know who invented the nutcracker?
Aristotle!
Interesting huh?

Tomorrow!

Im really exited for tomorrow because it is opening night for the production Annie!! I can't wait! I dyed my hair for the show because we all didn't like the look of the wig. So now I am a red head! I don't think I look to bad do I?
I think I'm ready but i keep on forgetting about one line but Daddy Warbucks  always covers up for me so I guess if I forget he will do the same thing that he did last night. Other than that I think I'm ready. Oh yeah and Im not sure about my tap dance and Sandy the dog (otherwise known as Lika) keeps on pulling me of the stage so i still need to practice with him I'm hoping everything goes okay mom says it will. So wish me luck on my performance! (or to break a leg!)

Technology is fun!

I really do think my computer hates me.  However I do enjoy making images look interesting with technology. So today instead of showing you pictures of butterflies and such we are going to look at photos that have been made better through technology.

Oregon ahoy!

In late August we went to the Oregon Coast. The ocean was beautiful, lots of joints to choose from and tons of tourists attractions oh but the hotels! We spent nearly 4 hours driving up and down the Oregon Coast looking for a vacancy. We finally found a marina side campsite. This is the coast so….
CRABS!!!

MMMMMM!!!!!!!

Since I live in Alberta I rarely have the pleasure of eating crab and to this day the taste of that freshly boiled and buttered crab torments me.

Thanksgiving Pumpkins

Did you know that pumpkins can ripen even after they have been cut from the stem and carved? I do now! Frost comes quick in Canada so we had to cut and run with the pumpkins.[literally]

Soon after we picked out pumpkin designs from here we began carving.

My pumpkin, at the time, was ripe. My sisters was still green so she choose a different one and as I look at her once green pumpkin on the mantle, it is now sporting a tiger orange colour. I hope my pumpkin lasts till Halloween.

To get the most fun out of my pumpkin I put a baby monitor in it and made it scream. No one noticed of course until I put Johnny Cash "Ride This Train" through the speaker. I hope you all had as much fun as I did on Thanksgiving Weekend!

Morning Fishing

Earlier in september my grandpa and I went fishing.  We left fairly early to get to the river. I always wondered what fog looked like on a river and now I can say I have. All the little ponds were sending just enough steam up to fog our car wind shield. If you've ever been to the red deer river you would know that its in a valley, well when we pulled up it looked like someone had dumped 400,000 tons of dry ice in the river and all the fog was spewing over the valley walls. Of course the cold that caused that fog made you hands crack. [its Canada] The fish wisely stayed inside.

Theatre Thursday

I've recently been in a number of plays. I've been in Snow White, which i was young Snow White, Anne of Green Gables, which I was Josie Pye and I am now Annie in Annie- the very first movie my mom watched. So far it's going good! We are doing ACT I run through today. I'm a little nervous. Hopefully I won't make a mistake. I'm really enjoying theatre so far. It's one of my favourite things to do.
So wish me luck on first run through today!!
and have a great day.
