Voodoo donuts

Oregon is home to many things such as the ocean, beautiful views and warm weather, but one thing that is often over looked is the food. Highly buttered crab from the ocean, cheese from the Tillamook cheese factory, cotton candy from the Tillamook fair and of course doughy doughnuts from Voodoo Donuts in Portland.
Voodoo Donuts is an independent store dedicated to creating works of art through dough. With the motto, "The magic’s in the hole" it should be good!         I stood in line for nearly 2 hours in the warm August sun for a taste of the doughnuts that have been featured on the Amazing Race, Man vs. Food and Attack of the Show.                               Sitting down at the outdoor wooden table and biting into the doughy goodness definitely paid off and was well worth the wait. It was probably not the healthiest food to have for breakfast but I am sure the walk from the store through the crowded city back to the truck burned off most of the fat from the chocolate almond covered donuts and 2% percent milk.
Voodoo Donuts was a huge and tasty part of my vacation.

Skim Boarding in Oregon

Water is fun with just swim trunks but its more fun with…
Skim boarding!!!
Living in Alberta I don't have any source of salt water near by so that I can surf or do any other ocean related sports. So when I went to Oregon the cheapest type of board I was told was a skim board. The history of skim boarding is rather interesting. The first skim boards were just pieces of wood that life guards
used to skim up and down the beach. [I think the sun eventually got to them] Now skim boarding is more technically advanced than surfing, however skim boarding is much less popular than the sport of the waves.
However simple, skim boarding is hard the first few times. I think I still have sand in my ears.
Marbles, completely oblivious to all this, was proceeding to continue the hole to China.

Oregon ahoy!

In late August we went to the Oregon Coast. The ocean was beautiful, lots of joints to choose from and tons of tourists attractions oh but the hotels! We spent nearly 4 hours driving up and down the Oregon Coast looking for a vacancy. We finally found a marina side campsite. This is the coast so….
CRABS!!!

MMMMMM!!!!!!!

Since I live in Alberta I rarely have the pleasure of eating crab and to this day the taste of that freshly boiled and buttered crab torments me.
