Happy Birthday

Hello.
Today is my Pops birthday and right now he is enjoying the Arizona sun for his birthday. Since he is not here in Canada I have decided to do a post for him
This is him when he was five.
I would like to thank him for helping me woodwork in the shop and tying endless woolly buggers for fishing.

Apron Making

Here is my post about my apron:
If you saw my post before called Weekend Plans then you will know what this is about.
First we looked at the instruction book…that's always a good idea!!

When I looked at what the finished product was supposed to look like, I didn't think mine would turn out like the picture!
I layed out my fabric and then placed  the pattern on top.
Pinning is not my favorite thing to do but cutting is!!

We did the darts on both materials (my opinion is: darts are hard!!!!)

We followed the pattern and did lots of sewing. Most of the time I worked on the straps - which is kind of hard. I had four of them to do. My grams ;) was working on her Arizona Quilt. It was really cute.
As I got closer to the finish I thought "I'm going to help her make supper in my new apron!" After I sewed all the straps I turned them inside out. Grams;) did the ruffle for me considering I don't really know how to do it. (Yet!)

I'm almost done!!
I sewed the back and the front together….

Then after I finished I put it on Diana, the mannequin. (After I measured to see who had a bigger waist!)
I was all done. I had to admit, it looked pretty good!!!

It fits quite good. I'm thinking of maybe making more aprons because they are fun!! I have some extra material. I have a lot of the flowered material and not much of the yellow. Some of the yellow I used to make patterns on. I helped my Grams;) teach sewing and she was showing me how they are going to zigzag all the way around their pants their making. Which I have upstairs in my room I'm going to hand sew the rest of it and use it for my barbies to wear when making an apron.

Weekend Plans

I've always wanted to sew an apron. My Grandma has a pattern for sewing an apron so on Saturday I am going to make a apron! Yippee!!! I picked out what pattern and what material to use. Here it is.

Sorry, it's a little fuzzy. The top material is the main material. the bottom material is for the straps and the bottom and the rick rack is for edging. I'm super excited to make it. I just wish Saturday would come but then again Friday night I'm in rec-hockey which is fun too.

What are your plans for the weekend??

Here it is! (late)

Sorry there was no post for Christmas or about snow boarding and skiing sooner.Anyways here it is!
Well first of all it was lots of fun. When we first got there there was no one there. Except for the staff. So we got our ski ticket then we went literally down to the rental shop my brother already has a snow board and boots so he just needed a helmet. Me on the other hand had nothing so we got the full thing for me (and my cousin who was skiing with me and my other cousin who was snow boarding.) I was fitting my helmet on then all of a sudden this school showed up with kids around 7 and 8 years old. Well, when we got to the hill there was the T bar and a towrope that only went about a quarter up the slope. So of course we went on the tow rope first considering that we had never been on a ski hill before. When I got to the top of the tow rope I thought "Great, it's time for me to make a fool of myself!" I started to gain speed. I didn't really think of weaving at the moment. When I got to the bottom I didn't know how to stop so I yelled to my mom,"I can't stop!" Then I kinda sat down on my skis and put my hands on the ground and finally I stopped. Well after that I decided to weave and then I went up the t bar with out falling! When I got to the t bar i got in position and went up the hill. Over all it was really fun. Guess what!! We get to go on Thursday! I got a ski helmet for christmas and so did my brother. Im super excited! Well hope you all had a good Christmas!!

Skiing and Snowboarding

Tomorrow we are going to go skiing and snowboarding at the Canyon ski hill. I'm quite excited. We are going with our cousins whose mom is the maker of Just One Life a very interesting blog with lovely photography. I decided I am going to ski. My brother is going to snowboard. I would snowboard but there is two reasons I'm not going to. One- Last time I snowboarded I ran into a trampoline and my leg hurt for  couple of days. Two- One of my cousins is snowboarding and my other cousin is skiing. So I'd rather hang out with someone who is skiing rather then snowboarding plus, I'm not the best at snowboarding. I will publish a post about how it went on probably Wednesday or Tuesday. We will see.
A snowman I made.

Voodoo donuts

Oregon is home to many things such as the ocean, beautiful views and warm weather, but one thing that is often over looked is the food. Highly buttered crab from the ocean, cheese from the Tillamook cheese factory, cotton candy from the Tillamook fair and of course doughy doughnuts from Voodoo Donuts in Portland.
Voodoo Donuts is an independent store dedicated to creating works of art through dough. With the motto, "The magic’s in the hole" it should be good!         I stood in line for nearly 2 hours in the warm August sun for a taste of the doughnuts that have been featured on the Amazing Race, Man vs. Food and Attack of the Show.                               Sitting down at the outdoor wooden table and biting into the doughy goodness definitely paid off and was well worth the wait. It was probably not the healthiest food to have for breakfast but I am sure the walk from the store through the crowded city back to the truck burned off most of the fat from the chocolate almond covered donuts and 2% percent milk.
Voodoo Donuts was a huge and tasty part of my vacation.

Skim Boarding in Oregon

Water is fun with just swim trunks but its more fun with…
Skim boarding!!!
Living in Alberta I don't have any source of salt water near by so that I can surf or do any other ocean related sports. So when I went to Oregon the cheapest type of board I was told was a skim board. The history of skim boarding is rather interesting. The first skim boards were just pieces of wood that life guards
used to skim up and down the beach. [I think the sun eventually got to them] Now skim boarding is more technically advanced than surfing, however skim boarding is much less popular than the sport of the waves.
However simple, skim boarding is hard the first few times. I think I still have sand in my ears.
Marbles, completely oblivious to all this, was proceeding to continue the hole to China.

Nutcracker Christmas

Do you decorate with nutcrackers at Christmas?

We found this one for my dad who is a fire fighter!
Do you know who invented the nutcracker?
Aristotle!
Interesting huh?
